My dad gave me my first camera in high school, a sturdy black minolta. i found my gift, my voice, my way to be with the world. after journalism school, i worked as a newspaper photojournalist for over a decade. then moved home to be near family and started a boutique stock photography agency, see jane run. then trained my eye on art photography.
now I teach both film and digital photography to high school students at the San Francisco Waldorf High School, and to middle school students at The Image Flow in MILL VALLEy. I also founded a photography camp for women, firefly institute. All in the name of sharing my love of photography.
"Hills grew up in Marin County, CA, and -- after time spent living in France, Oregon, Greece, Martinique, Missouri, Florida, and Los Angeles -- chose to return there. Born on the first day of Spring, she is an enthusiast. What she embraces, she loves with intensity and without reservation. She is an observer. With her camera and her heart she sees the world around her. She is a friend, and draws people to her with her soft energy and consistent care. Once her friend, always her friend. She is tidy and organized and brings clarity to the world around her. She is a seeker. Looking for the path, both exterior and interior, has brought her many adventures, and will bring her many more."
