3/365: innocence

as my pal charlie, dad to three wee-ones, says,
it's a reminder of technology-free innocence ... looking for that one rock to cast that will bounce just right ... and that random piece of chalk in your parents' junk drawer to scratch out the pattern ...
2/365: friendly soup

it is good to have friends. especially the kind who bring homemade soup. and the kind who don't worry when you return the plastic container to them.
1/365: prayer for the new year

may i flow with the Universe with ease and grace.
(i know that the universe knows.)
head start on the new year
my gear rested for quite some time in the back of my closet, untouched, waiting. finally something got into me. i want to move, move my body. now!
swimming. biking. running. it looks a little bit like a triathlon is in my future. but i promise, those days are over. still, i love to do all of these activities. hard at first, winded, sore, slow. but each day i see progress. a little easier, a little smoother.
and a lot lighter. of spirit. feels good.

i sang my heart out ...
twice a year, for a few years now, i sing in public. these few hours have become highlights in time.
i am merely one of 100 singers. and each time, i only completely know all the music just in the nick of time for the performance.
but when i sing for the audience, i am completely "on." it's not that i don't make mistakes, because i do, but i'm giving it all i've got. every ounce of attention and every molecule of energy focused on our maestro, the music, my voice, and the sounds encircling me. i get a little carried away by the sheer force of the sound, the power of the situation. i sing as if my one voice really mattered. i sing my heart out.

still grateful

though the november gratitude project is finished, i am still grateful!
this morning, for the morning light inching across my newly painted WHITE walls.
november. 30th. norcal love.
gratitude projejct, day 30
to wear sandals on a dogwalk at the end of november? priceless.
something in the way ...
gratitude project, day 29
i promised this little friend would make the gratitude list more than once this month. such purity, such love shines forth from those eyes.
lights, camera, temple!
gratitude project, day 27
salt lake city really does it up when it comes to holiday lights. temple square packed with people and light on a cold november night.
morning diva
gratitude project, day 25all i want to do is photograph this gorgeous girl. those eyes. thos lips. that sweet sweet soul. even fresh out of the shower, this one knows just how to BE with my camera. rebecca, my nephew's sweetheart, has become our sweetheart, too.
breaking bread
gratitude project, day 24
friends + family + food + TIME ... it just doesn't get any better than thanksgiving. best holiday of the year, hands down.
atmosphere
that i can wear flip flops on a late november afternoon? i love norcal!
and not just because i grew up here. i've also lived in socal, and oregon, missouri, michigan, florida, france, greece and the lovely island of martinique.
but weather-wise? it just doesn't get any better than this. we get all four seasons, but nothing extreme. the atmosphere feels just right to me.
